Alaska Caribou

I really like Alaska Caribou hunting. The big white mane is beautiful, lots of impressive horn, relatively easy hunting country, and a great Alaska hunting experience at a reasonable price.

Barren ground Caribou hunting is a lot of fun. These nomads of the North are constantly on the move to find suitable food sources and more important to point their noses into the wind and try to escape the mosquitoes and flies that constantly harass them. The herd's movement can be extensive and unpredictable. But in the far north the bag limit is generous and the Caribou are generally plentiful enough to find some nice bulls.

A good way to hunt Caribou is to combine it with a hunt for Grizzly Bear, Black Bear, or Dall Sheep in game units 16 and 19. They inhabit the same areas and many good bulls have been taken during these hunts. In the Arctic we hunt in unit 26. Here your Alaska Caribou hunt can be combined with Arctic Grizzly and Wolf. Our gear and equipment is flown to camp with small super cubs or taken in with an airboat. Limit the weight of your gear to 50 pounds, including your rifle. Since Caribou are nomad in nature it is occasionally necessary to move the camp to get back into the herd as it moves about. These hunts are highly successful and a great experience in a great country. Be sure to bring your insulated ankle fitting hip boots and a back pack to carry your personal items in during the daily hikes.

These beautiful white maned trophy Caribou bulls are striking in appearance and make a great addition to every hunter's trophy room. Skill and dedication is necessary to bag a truly outstanding trophy Caribou bull.
